Non-Healing Wounds

Sunlit forest with tall pine trees and rolling hills in the background during golden hour.

If you or someone in your care has a wound that is not improving despite treatment, we are here to find out why — and to create a clear, targeted plan that gives healing the best possible chance.

THE SPIERINGS
MEDICAL GROUP

The Spierings Medical Group provides specialist care for non-healing wounds, offering thorough clinical and consultant-led assessment for patients whose wounds have stalled, regressed, or simply not responded to previous treatment. A wound that is not healing is telling you something — and identifying what that is requires expertise, investigation, and clinical judgment.

Understanding Non-Healing Wounds

A non-healing wound is one that has failed to show consistent progress toward closure despite appropriate initial management. This can occur for many reasons including poor circulation, infection, nutritional deficiency, uncontrolled systemic conditions, or in some cases an underlying cause such as malignancy or an unusual inflammatory condition that has not yet been identified.

The challenge is that the barrier to healing is not always obvious. A wound may look clean and well-managed and yet continue to stall because the underlying driver is systemic, or because the wound care approach, though well-intentioned, is simply not suited to what that wound actually needs.

Our Approach

We investigate non-healing wounds methodically, assessing the wound in detail, reviewing the full medical and treatment history, and arranging appropriate investigations before forming any management plan. Treatment is built around what the individual wound and patient actually need, not a generic protocol.

We provide consistent follow-up, adapt the plan as the wound responds, and ensure our patients always understand what is happening and why. Our goal is to give every non-healing wound the best possible chance of closing, with honest, supportive guidance throughout.
